Tooth-Colored Fillings
in Prosper, TX

Tooth decay is the most prevalent chronic disease affecting children in America. If left untreated, it can lead to cavities, which in turn can cause infection, pain, or even tooth loss. At Fun Kids Dentistry, Dr. Oh and his exceptional team are proud to offer tooth-colored fillings to restore your child's healthy, beautiful smile.

Tooth-Colored Fillings Overview

Tooth-colored fillings are made of a composite resin material. They are matched to the color and appearance of your child's teeth, delivering incredibly natural-looking results. Tooth-colored restorations are the choice restorations for tooth repair, especially in the visible areas, because they do not detract from your child's smile. They are very strong and durable, with the potential of lasting many years with proper care.

Gentle, Comfortable Care

We do our best to make each visit comfortable and offer many options to help reduce anxiety. We have nitrous oxide (laughing gas) as well as sedation options both in our office and at the hospital, should your child need extensive care.

Your Child's Dental Exam

Our team will take digital x-rays of your child's teeth. Dr. Oh will review these images and will conduct a tooth by tooth evaluation. If he finds cavities during his examination of your child's teeth, he may recommend placing a tooth-colored filling to protect the tooth from further decay.

The Tooth-Colored Filling Procedure

Most children experience little to no discomfort during the procedure. If your child has dental anxiety, let us know. We will discuss sedation options to make sure your child's experience is positive.

We will start by numbing your child's mouth with the help of a local anesthetic. As long as the area of decay is not too large, Dr. Oh will treat it with a simple tooth-colored filling. That involves removing the decay and cleaning the treatment site, then placing a composite resin filling in the cavity. A special curing light will be used to harden and bond the material to the tooth surface, fully restoring its form and function. Dr. Oh will adjust the filling to allow your child to bite comfortably.

Caring for Tooth-Colored Fillings

Encourage your child to maintain good oral care habits, which include brushing at least twice a day and flossing daily. Limit the intake of sugary foods and drinks to prevent further tooth decay from developing, and to keep your child's teeth and fillings healthy. Most importantly, schedule your child's exams and cleanings every six months. During the visits, we will ensure your child's teeth are healthy and will monitor the restorations to make sure they stay in good shape.
